Puppet & Theatre Making
Puppets and puppet theatres can provide endless hours of fun for children young and old. They can also teach basic skills include numeracy, literacy, simple spelling and creative reading. Specialised skills include manners, overcoming fears, emotions, social skills, confidence and team working
Unfortunately, puppet theatres can cost a fortune. This course shows children, adults, and families how to make an affordable, adaptable puppet theatre that the whole family can enjoy. Then to complete the package we make puppets to go with it.
Depending on time scale we can look at theatres from cardboard boxes, chairs covered in fabric, or small playhouses with a large, curtained front "window" from which the audience views the puppets' antics.
Puppets can then be
- Cardboard finger puppets
- Felt puppets
- Finger puppets
- Origami Finger Puppets
- Paper bag puppets
- Paper mache people
- Pencil puppets
- Shadow puppets
- Shadow puppets from cardboard and lolly sticks
- Sock puppets
