2.  Recognise different types of play.  

2.1  Describe at least 5 different types of play.

2.2  Discuss opportunities for group and solitary play.

     

3.  Understand the relationship

     between stimulation and play.

 

3.1  Define the term 'stimulation' in relation to play.

3.2  Describe at least 4 ways in which a toy is stimulating.

3.3  Describe ways of making everyday situations (eg bath time) more

      enjoyable and stimulating.

     

4.  Understand developmental stages

     in relation to play.

 

4.1  Explain the importance of selecting toys appropriate for the

       age/development stage of the child.

4.2  Describe at least 3 toys and/or activities which could be used to

      strengthen muscles.

4.3  Describe at least 3 toys and/or activities which could be used to

      encourage hand-eye co-ordination.
