Achievable Holiday and Summer Services OCN Level 2
Evidence shows that summer and holiday services can greatly impact on young peoples learning, improve exam results, increase self confidence, assist with social skills and ease transition. With this in mind many services are looking at providing or increasing their holiday/summer service provision. This course is designed to take you through planning and delivering of a successful summer/holiday service in easy steps and covers:

- Recruitment and retention of staff, volunteers and young people

K’NEX Learning for Tutors OCN Level 2 or Numeracy and Science OCN Level 2
K’NEX construction kits are proven to support learning across all key stages and the adult curriculum. These courses will train educators to develop a better understanding of technology, science and numeracy, and improved creativity and problem-solving skills using K’NEX covering:
- Over view of all Educational uses of K’NEX
- Planning and delivering K’NEX activities
- Supporting learners through K’NEX challenges.
- Understanding of numeracy, shape, space, measure and data handling.
- Understanding of forces, motion, and sources of energy.
Both courses give delegates the qualification to deliver OCN Level 1 in K’NEX Numeracy, Science and Technology to learners 14 years and over.

** Other courses can be added at the specific request of a LA/cluster of services. Other provider’s Extended Service courses will be considered as part of the Certificate if delivered at OCN level 2
How do I get involved?
The Certificate of Extended Services Practice provides an over arching accredited qualification that contributes to CPD and provides relevant knowledge in the growing area of Extended Services Practice. Within it is the option to undertake individual courses that suit with no requirement to complete the whole series. It is both inexpensive to the participant and has no cost or administration burdens to the Local Authority. Karen Routledge Limited will complete all the administration and paperwork and cover other costs. E.g. catering.
Local Authorities agree to provide a venue suitable for up to 40 people and to circulate flyers through their internal mailing system in exchange for 2 free places for LA staff. All flyers and advertising will include the Local Authority’s logo. Supporting Authorities would allow services/individuals from outside their area to attend. They would however be able to advertise the courses to their services two weeks in advance of other advertising.
