1.    Recognise factors which affect learning

 

  • Understand the importance of communication skills for self and child

 

 

 

  • Recognise the role of the parent/carer as the first educator

 

 

  • Recognise opportunities to develop communication skills in children

 

  • Recognise appropriate reading material for children

 

 

 

1.1    Identify own barriers / incentives to learning, past and present

 

2.1    Identify all communication skills e.g. reading, writing, speaking and listening, body language, eye contact (Social communication skills)

2.2    Produce a diary of communication skills used over a given period of time

 

    • Identify ways in which a parent/carer can have the role of an educator
    • Relate the role of parent/carer as an educator to own past experiences

 

4.1    Produce at least 3 activities which promote communication skills in a child e.g. picture book, matching game, turn-taking games

 

    • Identify appropriate reading material for a child
    • State why this material is appropriate
