6.     Recognise the importance of books in the development of language skills.

7.     Recognise own and child’s language skills.

1.1    When invited, make appropriate contributions to group discussions / activities.

2.1    Share and record a language activity prompted by games, books or other everyday reading material.

3.1    From a list, identify 3 stages of early language development.

4.1    From a range of appropriate activities (e.g. nursery rhymes, fairy stories), select 2 to develop language skills of child.

5.1    List at least 3 everyday opportunities used to extend language and interests of child.

6.1    Identify how a book can be used to develop a child’s language skills.

7.1    List existing language skills of self and child.
