Cookery for All

John Paul Devitt joins KRL this month as a freelance trainer. An experienced trainer, he is currently the Chef-patron of his own gastro-pub specialising in home-made locally sourced food having previously worked in senior management in International and UK education, training organisations, schools, and with Young Offenders. He has delivered training throughout the UK and West & Southern Africa, and has wide experience of working across all ages and ethnic groups

John Paul is keen to de-mystify cooking and help people gain the confidence and skills to change theirs and their families' lifestyle and well-being through learning to cook. He will be delivering cooking and nutrition related courses for KRL in the following and other areas:

OCN level 1

  • Basic Cookery
  • Further Basic Cookery
  • Healthy Eating and Cooking on a Budget
  • Healthy Eating Awareness

OCN level 2

  • Healthy Eating for all Occasions
  • Healthy Eating on a Budget  

The courses can be delivered as an instruction course for staff to learn and then deliver to others, as direct training to parents and young people or as cookery demonstrations and tastings to interested groups and organisations.

Princes Trust Change the Record Youth Week

Youth week in November aims to change the public’s negative perceptions of young people. The campaign will challenge views about young people by highlighting the positive contributions they make to their communities. It also focuses on young people’s wellbeing, encouraging them to seek support from organisations like The Prince’s Trust. Youth Week will bring together youth organisations, corporate supporters, media partners, celebrity ambassadors and young people. Inspiring tales from Trust celebrity supporters, including Annie Lennox, Estelle and Premier League footballers will also feature in the campaign.
