Team Building Stockton and Bexley Councils have recently benefited from a teambuilding day run by KRL. The day long activity consisted of an interactive communication skills session in the morning and a riproaring K’NEX robot wars team activity based on Belbin’s Team Roles theory in the afternoon. The Science Museum The Science Museum have added five new activities to their range of free classroom resources. Including, Robot Bug, Bath Fizzers, Marshmallow Madness, Soap Challenge and SOS 'Save Our Snacks' aimed at KS2, KS3 and KS4. Teachers can download them for free from www.sciencemuseum.org.uk/educatorsresources They have also launched Mystery Boxes, a complete lesson that helps teach key elements of How Science Works though a compelling practical activity for KS3 and KS4 students. Reading Champions Reading Champions is a unique way for both primary and secondary schools to get more of their boys enjoying reading. Schools invite boys who are influential among pupils to become Reading Champions. These Reading Champions encourage other boys to get into reading by running positive reading activities and promotions following the reading champions framework. Reading Champions can be nominated via the website for bronze, silver and then gold awards which provide recognition for their achievements and help to keep them motivated. Reading Champions is funded by the Department for Children, Schools and Families and is free for schools to join. Media-Box Mediabox is a fund that offers disadvantaged 13 – 19 year olds the opportunity to create their own media projects. They offer grants from £500 - £40,000.
Mini Mediabox Grants from £1,000–£5,000 Mini-Mediabox is for grassroots and community organisations with a relatively small turnover. Mid Mediabox Grants from £5,000–£20,000 A mid-level grant open to established youth organisations that may or may not have delivered media projects in the past.
