1.     Work as part of a group.

2.     Work with child in developing language and reading skills.

3.     Recognise personal reading skills.

4.     Recognise opportunities to develop a child’s language and reading skills.

5.     Recognise a child’s literacy needs and interests.

6.     Appreciate the value of a choice of reading materials for self and child.

7.     Use the facilities of the local lending library.

8.     Recognise own and child’s reading skills.

1.1    When invited, make appropriate contributions to group discussion / activities.

2.1    Share a reading activity from a book or other everyday reading material e.g. newspaper.

2.2    Identify reading material appropriate to the child.

3.1    Identify personal reading skills used in at least 2 everyday contexts.

4.1    List at least 3 opportunities which can offer language and/or reading experiences.

5.1    Identify the child’s literacy needs.

5.2    Identify the child’s interests.

6.1    List at least 3 opportunities for further reading for self and child.

7.1    Borrow at least one appropriate book from the children’s section of the library.

7.2    Borrow at least one book from the adult section of the library.

8.1    List reading skills of self and child.
